  • Every content creator must fulfill these requirements to start earning.

What Does Facebook Pay Currently?

According to industry insiders, Facebook pays content creators between  $8[Sh 1,072] and $20 [sh 2,681] per 1000 views. The average CPM (cost per mile) in most African countries is $10[sh 1,340], considering that the African Market is underdeveloped, unlike other countries like the USA, the UK, Australia, and Canada.

The announcement regarding monetization came as data showed Facebook is ahead of the instant messaging platform WhatsApp. That indicates a huge earning potential for creators in the country once the monetization feature goes live.

Where Was the Announcement Made?

President Wiliam Ruto met Facebook’s global affairs president, Nick Clegg, at the Statehouse, where they made a deal to let content creators earn from Meta.

“Kenyan content creators who meet the eligible requirements will now earn from their Facebook profiles immediately after we start monetization in June 2024,” said Mr. Clegg.

On the other hand, President Ruto supported the move, asserting that it would enable Kenyan youths to earn an income.

He said, “Content creators can start earning from their creativity and imagination. We believe the digital space will help create more jobs for the millions of youths in Kenya.”
