Pastor Kanyari, who recently received condoms in a church, has decided to address the issue. He opened up to Kenyans on TikTok, seeking their forgiveness. He also stood by the female TikToker and urged Kenyans to forgive her too.
Kanyari had earlier received condoms, pant liners and petroleum jelly as gifts from one of his fans in a church service. This raised a lot of concerns among Kenyans and TikTokers, many condemning him for disrespecting the altar.
He said that he suffered from hypertension and insomnia because of the negative comments from disgusted Kenyans on social media. Pastor Kanyari cried and expressed sorrow during his live tiktok. He stated that he felt sorry for entertaining a woman who gave him condoms in a church. He continued to justify his mistakes pleading for forgiveness.
On his TikTok Live, where he was singing the unastahili kuabudiwa worship song, Kanyari remorsefully cried while wiping his tears and sweat, showing he was genuinely sorry for what occurred. He promised that such a thing would never repeat.
“What can I do my God?” He cried.
He mentioned that he has cars and land outside, but is feeling pressured. He said it was bedtime but couldn’t sleep, still under pressure. He declared he wouldn’t sleep, stating he will kneel down as a way of being humble to God.
Kanyari acknowledged that Faith M Peters, the TikToker who gifted him, was wrong and gave an example of a Bible story whereby a harlot , who was a prostitute, was about to be killed by people when Jesus stepped in and intervened by stopping them. He went ahead and defended her saying the church is a place for everyone regardless of what they do. He claimed that Faith was not born again and that was her first time in church.

“Mimi nimefanya kazi ya Mungu kwa zaidi ya miaka thelathini na sijawahi ona kitu kama hio. Hakuna mtu hakoseangi, msichana alikosea na sikutaka kumpiga au kumtusi kwa sababu washirika wangempiga (I have worked for God for 30 years and have never seen anything like that before. We all make mistakes, the girl made a mistake, and I didn’t want to beat or insult her because the congregation would have attacked her),” he said.
Kanyari said that he was not aware of what was wrapped in the newspaper which the lady gave him. ”I am here to make this statement to say that I am sorry, I am sorry, sorry mara mia moja,” Kanyari said apologetically.
Kanyari’s apology came a few hours after Ezekiel Mutua, the boss of Music Copyright Society of Kenya (MCSK), had slammed him for his online misconduct terming it as mockery to the faith. Mutua said that Kanyari must be stopped through all possible means. He further vowed to collaborate with the relevant government ministries to address Kanyari’s trending story.
As many Kenyans were against Pastor Kanyari, Thee Pluto, a Kenyan You Tuber, seemed to be defending Kanyari. Through his instagram stories, Thee Pluto, said that he does not understand why everyone is criticizing Kanyari because he received such gifts in his church.
Pluto said that Kanyari had not asked for them. He emphasized that he is not saying Kanyari’s actions were good or bad but insisted that there are people who are worse than Pastor Kanyari.
On the other side, Faith M Peters, said that she is not going to apologize for what she did to Pastor Kanyari. She said that she did not nothing wrong. In an interview session, Faith said that she did not damage the pastor’s reputation. She insisted that even when she was born she found a bad reputation of Pastor Kanyari.
